Summary:

EBI collaborated with this client to restore the facility’s existing isolated phase bus (IPB) duct system to full operable condition, extend the IPB to support the connection of additional transformers, and ensure the new infrastructure could reliably support the high electrical demands of the adjacent data center.

Data centers require substantial, continuous power to support servers, cooling systems, and backup infrastructure, making dependable power distribution critical. By revitalizing the plant’s existing electrical systems, EBI helped enable consistent, uninterrupted power delivery for this new energy-intensive facility.

EBI was selected for this project based on its deep expertise in power generation systems, including bus duct installation and maintenance, custom fabrication, and specialty welding, along with its unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and execution excellence.

Scope of Work:

Refurbished the mating surfaces on 6 IPB ends and 1 Paddle on the GCB
Cryogenically cleaned PT cab and all existing indoor IPB runs
Gathered measurements on the GCB braids and shunts
Removed old IPB cooler supply and return openings and patch
Welded shunts on the GCB and enclosure
Installed FME on GCB opening, Gen, openings and outdoor IPB ends at wall plate
Installed steel for transformers
Repaired the outside severed isophase bus at the existing wall plate
Set the doghouses on the transformers
Set and aligned IPB sections
Removed the existing PT cabinet on the GSU side of the GCB and modify the PT cabinet on the generator side of the GCB while performing necessary welds
Completed a final DC Hi-Pot acceptance test of the IPB per IEEE standards
Installed braids at the transformers and the GCB
Installed sets of load break switch platforms at the transformer
Set and aligned load break switch at the transformer
