Why EBI:

EBI mobilized its crew, equipment, and mobile R3 Contingency Unit to this Georgia power plant after a transformer fire resulted in damaging the isolated phase bus. Once onsite, EBI’s crew assessed the damage and formulated a plan of action/repair. EBI used the R3 micro-factory to fabricate replacement IPB sections onsite which EBI later installed in place of existing IPB that was beyond repair. Additionally, of the IPB that was not catastrophically damaged, EBI cryogenically cleaned and inspected all internal bus components; replacing any damaged insulators and all compromised gasket material.

EBI designed and fabricated new terminations for the temporary GSU transformers on Phase 1, 2, & 3. EBI also utilized their R3 mobile factory to fabricate adapter bars on site in order to accommodate the new transformer terminations. EBI’s scope included the installation of the new IPB termination compartment (doghouses) on all three phases. EBI then fit up and completed the weld out of all IPB enclosures and conductors to tie into the existing IPB on all three phases. Next, EBI installed the new EBI supplied adapter bars and fit up the new EBI supplied braided flex links on all the terminations. EBI performed a final bus duct acceptance DC Hi-Pot test per IEEE standards finished the scope of work by installing the braids, torqueing to the proper specifications. EBI cleaned their work area and demobilized all crew and equipment.
