Electrical Builders, Inc. (EBI®) has successfully completed the uprate change-out of the main Isolated Phase Bus (IPB) at the Dresden Nuclear Power Plant owned by Exelon. The IPB uprate will allow power from the generator to flow cooler and more efficiently to the transformer.

The IPB uprate process performed by EBI included replacement of the main IPB and cooling unit supply duct, partial Unit 2 IPB removal, replacement of Air Handling Unit (AHU) ductwork, and structural steel replacement.

EBI Co-Owner and VP of Construction, Eric Netter, credited teamwork and attention to quality for the successful completion of the Dresden IPB uprate, “Prior to beginning our work at Dresden, Marv Evans, Exelon’s project manager, called a meeting with all the workers. We discussed quality and reminded the team that it is not achieved by accident; it is the result of intentional and sincere efforts, skillful execution, and wise decisions by every team member.”

EBI provided 24/7 support to complete the IPB uprate two days ahead of schedule with zero OSHA recordable incidents. “The quality of work at Dresden was superior,” stated Netter. “Teamwork enabled a group of common people to attain uncommon results.”
